Conservatory - Truro |

Here our customer wanted to place a conservatory across the whole front of his double fronted bungalow, to take advantage of an impressive view across his own land and beyond.
Our customer had a very clear idea of the design that he wanted. Broadly speaking there were to be two wings with a Victorian section in the middle. The design difficulty which presented itself here was that the central section of the house, which was a gable, gave ample height to take a Victorian style roof, whilst the wings were limited in height by the height of the bungalow eaves, requiring a roof structure of two different levels. This problem was solved with the help of our design software, and the result is a striking addition to the property.
An additional difficulty was that the whole conservatory was to be constructed on 'made-up' ground, unsuitable for the foundations. The answer to this was simply to dig down sufficiently deeply to find suitable ground for the footings. We then discovered that there was a main drain running precisely along the run of the front wall of the right hand wing, so this had to be bridged with appropriate lintels.
All our building work is carried out to Building Regulation standard, even when the construction is not subject to Building Regulations. Finishing touches included replacement of the fascia and soffit above the conservatory roof, minimising the need for maintenance in an awkward location; and internally a tiled floor, with the same tiles followed through on the internal window cill.
Our customer has impressive plans for landscaping the garden across the front of the conservatory and patio, and we look forward to taking more photographs when he has finished.
