Whether you are the proud owner of a period house, or a modern semi-detached, we can provide a conservatory style to enhance the size and character of your home and express your individuality.

Investing in a conservatory is a major decision - that's why you need the best products and systems and all our frames incorporate the very latest Clearline technology.  The frames we use for conservatories are fully reinforced to provide extra stability.

Polycarbonate or glass roof?

One of the main decisions you need to make when choosing your conservatory is about the type of glazing in the roof.  Many people automatically think of a conservatory as a glass-roofed building, so they are surprised to be told that conservatory roofs are often not glass at all, but a special type of translucent plastic known as polycarbonate.

Polycarbonate conservatory roofs are light, strong and inexpensive.  The multi-wall construction, triple wall on 16mm through to five wall on 25mm provides excellent thermal properties.

There are four colours - clear, opalite and bronze and a combined bronze/opal and silver/opal.  Each type opens up design options to match with the frames (white/brown/woodgrain), reduce glare and minimise solar heat gain.

Nevertheless, most people would ideally like their conservatory to have a glass roof and we provide Anti Sun glass, available in a range of tints and colours.

The Ultraframe Conservaglass Optimum roof enhances the glass roof option to a more effective level than ever before.

To get the maximum return on your major investment, you need to be sure that your conservatory will always be comfortable; a place to shelter from the heat of the sun on midsummer afternoons, but also to enjoy cosy dinner parties on frosty winter nights - and enjoy an alfresco breakfast on sunny but chilly spring or autumn mornings.

In a typical British summer, an ordinary conservatory will be 10°c lower than a conservatory glazed with Pilkington 'K' glass.  This translates into an extra 70 hours of usage per summer month in your conservatory!

The Ultraframe roof system keeps air circulating to maximise comfort and minimise condensation.  The Conservaglass Optimum roof is a truly revolutionary glazing solution, which is a major breakthrough in creating a conservatory for all seasons.

Conservaglass Optimum also features a unique external coating that means rain water runs right off, taking dirt deposits with it.  And, when you occasionally need to clean it, less elbow grease is required too.

Why a GRP Solid Roof? - click for larger image
Why a GRP Solid Roof?
The insulated core prevents excessive heat build-up during the summer and allows for the retention of heat during the winter.

The thermal properties of the roof are such that it can be used on extensions and as a substitute for normal flat roofing, as well as for conservatories and porches (U value is 0.206W/m2k).

The strength of the roof is such that walking around on it is completely safe without crawling boards etc.  This allows easy access to any upstairs windows that are above the conservatory and need cleaning or painting.

Because the roof is opaque, any leaves or bird droppings etc. cannot be seen from inside and therefore the conservatory will always look cleaner.

The method of construction of our roofs is very similar to the construction of boat hulls.  The fact that the roofs are delivered in one piece (usually) drastically reduces the site time and mess.

Guttering is all concealed behind the decorative fascia and therefore the roof looks more attractive.

Almost any size or shape of roof can be made.

The fascia can be a different colour from the ceiling if required: colours can be matched to any B.S. number.

Electrical conduits can be built into the roof and positioned to suit your requirements.  We can, if requested, take this a stage further and build recessed light fittings into the roof.

Skylights can be built into the roof on request where lack of daylight is a worry.

Hardwood - click for larger image
Hardwood

Most timber products are made from African Iroko hardwood, however we can manufacture from any hardwood or softwood specified, preferably from renewable sources which are kiln dried to minimise warpage and shrinkage.

A choice of microporous finishes are available in a variety of coloured stains or a white finish where required.  Microporous coatings are used on the frames to ensure proper protection of the timber while allowing it to 'breath', two coats are applied in the workshops prior to going to site followed by a further finishing coat after the installation.

Standard specification includes mushroom cam espagnolette locking with night vent facility and stainless steel coated friction hinges, the double glazed units are 28mm thick to enhance heat insulation and reduce noise pollution, toughened glass is used where required to BS6262.  Low 'E' glass is available to comply with Document L legislation if requested or to comply with Local Authority building regulations.

The glass units are glazed into their frames using a 'dry glazing system' to comply with Glass & Glazing Federation requirements, this method of glazing incorporates a drainage system which safeguards against the failure of glass units.

Porches
All our porches come in either PVCu or Hardwood, and are made to measure, as are our conservatories.  You can have an Ultraframe polycarbonate or glass roof, a flat roof, a GRP (fibreglass) flat roof or traditional tiled or slate roof.
